    The oval gear flow meter is a volumetric measuring instrument used for continuous or intermittent measurement and control of liquid flow in pipelines. It has many advantages such as a wide range, high accuracy, low pressure loss, strong viscosity adaptability, the ability to measure high-temperature and high-viscosity liquids, convenient calibration, and installation recommendations. It is suitable for flow measurement in sectors such as petroleum, chemical industry, chemical fiber, transportation, commerce, food, and medical health.

    Working Principle

    The flow meter consists of a measuring box and a pair of oval gears installed inside the measuring box, forming a sealed initial crescent-shaped cavity as the unit for calculating the primary displacement. When the liquid to be measured enters the flow meter through the pipeline, the pressure difference generated at the inlet and outlet drives a pair of gears to rotate continuously, constantly transporting the liquid measured through the initial crescent-shaped cavity to the outlet. The number of revolutions of the oval gears multiplied by four times the primary displacement equals the total amount of liquid flow being measured.

    Installation Precautions for Flow Meters

    1. The pipeline should be thoroughly cleaned before installation, and a filter should be installed before the flow meter to prevent debris from entering it. If the measured liquid contains gas, an air separator should be installed.

    2. It is important that the axis of the oval gear of the flow meter is installed horizontally, meaning that the dial should be vertical to the ground. Valves for adjusting flow and starting or stopping should be installed at both ends of the flow meter.

    3. The arrow on the flow meter housing should point in the same direction as the liquid flow in the installed pipeline.

    4. For continuous flow pipelines, a bypass valve should be installed on the horizontal pipeline where the flow meter is installed for regular cleaning and maintenance. In vertical pipelines, the flow meter should be installed in a bypass pipeline to prevent debris from falling into the instrument.
