    Wedge flowmeter is a differential pressure flow measurement instrument, characterized by simple structure, reliable performance, convenient installation and use, and low cost. It is suitable for measuring flow in situations with low flow rates, small flow volumes, and large pipe diameters. It can measure high viscosity heavy oil, residual oil, diesel, lubricating oil, industrial gas, coke oven gas, blast furnace gas, generator gas, city gas, hydrogen, nitrogen, air, steam, wastewater liquids and other media.

    Working Principle

    The working principle of the wedge flowmeter is based on the law of conservation of energy - Bernoulli's equation and the continuity equation of flow. When the fluid flows through the V-shaped throttling element (also known as wedge-shaped flow resistance or wedge block) and the arc-shaped channel formed by the inner wall of the measuring tube, a differential pressure is generated on the upstream and downstream sides of the throttling element. The square root of this differential pressure is proportional to mass or volumetric flow rate within a certain range of Reynolds numbers (500-106). Different ratios of arc height h to pipe diameter D (wedge ratio h/D) determine different flow measurement ranges.
